SINGAPORE AND MALAYSIA TRAVEL GUIDE UNDER 10,000 PESOS FOR 5N6D

If I were to describe Singapore in one word I must say it is INCREDIBLE.  From efficient transportation system, good people, the culture, and arts, amazing architecture, cleanliness, plus the world’s best airport is here and the food is the national obsession.

In my research, Singapore is unique that you can drink tap waters in comfort rooms also the island is incredibly fertile as they say if you stick a broom in the soil it will bloom overnight.

Finally, this island is ticked off to my bucket list which I consider as one of Great Global Cities. Why I love this country more because it cherishes its Asian tradition despite blossoming as one of four economic tigers.

The wait is over, here is a comprehensive guide to the best city I have been so far. I must say that Singapore for me is an ideal place to visit even if you have three days (3) in your itinerary. I got this covered for you to discover in a glimpse of the visuals I have.

This itinerary is a good option for backpackers like me who travels within a limited budget.

There are many ways on how to score cheap flight tickets, hostel deals and entrances to major attractions that are available online. You just have to learn it.

On October 10, 2017, we departed from Kuala Lumpur International Airport going to Changi Airport via Jetstar.

Jetstar was punctual with the time of departure and that is a big point for me plus one reason why we flew from KLIA2 to Changi is to experience the world’s Best Airport. Not only that we saved a lot of time and money but also Changi Airport is a “Destination Alone’.

Count your lucky stars. At this airport, you will experience a totally different airport scene. I am not just talking about the free Wi-Fi.

WHAT TO DO AT CHANGI AIRPORT

There are many amenities and free services that you can get.

From the latest blockbuster movies operating 24/7 and it’s free.

IMG_8067.JPG

It’s also home to the countries tallest indoor slide. (near terminal 3)

Take a deep in the only outdoor pool in the world located at Changi.

Witness almost a thousand of butterflies and more than 40 species in their butterfly garden.

CXIK3926

Take a nap in the public area.

The social tree where you can compete with other passengers.

Get to see the Cactus Garden and watch the planes to take off and landing

TIP: Don’t forget to rate your experience even after visiting a comfort room or buying your food.

WHERE TO STAY

Accommodations in Singapore are really expensive, but today options for scoring cheap but reasonable stays are easy. In our part, since we will just secure a place for our belongings and to take some rest at night we really don’t care where to stay. A great tip is to look for all possible ways to compare on rates so you’d know the difference.

If you are working on a budget and don’t want to spend a lot on accommodation expenses try to book your stay at Footprints Hostel. Staffs are welcoming, the price is right for the bunk beds with 10 occupancies plus they offer free breakfast and the location is great if you want to stay near Little India, Marina Bay and other major attractions where MRT is just a few steps away.

Footprints Hostel

25A Perak Rd., Little India

WHERE TO GO AND WHAT TO DO

CHINATOWN

Anywhere I go, Chinatown is one of my ‘to-go-list’ I don’t why I love places like this that gives me a surreal feeling attached to cultural heritage. Maybe because of its colorful ambiance and the feeling of after a long walk through alleys we ended up following the authentic smell of foods- I know this is a national obsession.

CLARK QUAY AND RIVERSIDE

This destination for me is a stunning place to witness the lights that lit the riverside itself. The river stood out during evenings and don’t miss out the chance to experience the nightlife here.

SINGAPORE CABLE CAR

This cable car experience completed our Sentosa Island getaway. Take in stunning, 360-degree sights of Singapore’s Southern precinct.

For me, this was a great way to see the views of Mount Faber Park, Universal Studios, Resorts World Sentosa and other water activities while watching them on a bird’s eye-view. The price is right for me and my friend Jonna, booked it for only 1 peso. Yes, that is correct!

It is inclusive of two-way cable car ride on both the Sentosa Line and Mount Faber Line.

For bookings, you can check the price here: klook.com and use my promo code 85PP6 to have a discount of P164.70.

FUN AT SENTOSA

DO-IT-YOURSELF SINGAPORE RIVER WALK

MERLION PARK

Visited the Merlion park which is a must see to snap a photo, admire the bay or simply hop on a bumboat.

 IMG_8865

MARINA BAY

Yes, it is worth a visit. Who would not like to see an amazing architectural masterpiece that you can brag about the impressive skyline?

GARDENS BY THE BAY

When KLOOK, had a Piso sale I am one of those lucky guys who booked an entrance here. for only one peso not only I got to see the World’s Tallest Indoor waterfalls but also revealed in the spectacular views from the supertree grove amid lush gardens. Plus, I escaped from the tropical heat at the cooled conservatories in Cloud Forest. I didn’t miss the chance to see Marina Bay as well in a different perspective. The supertree grove is open to everyone.

WHERE TO SHOP

BUGIS MARKET, MUSTAFA CENTER, AND CHINATOWN

You’ll definitely love this shoppers and bargain hunters. Head to Bugis Market to literally rub shoulders with anyone who finds cheap souvenirs, affordable foods and chocolates! Plus the dollar market is located here.

WHERE TO EAT

BEAVER’S CAFE

Don’t get hungry while enjoying the scorching heat of the sun in Sentosa, I personally recommend Beaver’s Café located at the back of KFC Sentosa 11 Siloso Road, Sentosa.

We ordered Sentosa Island Set Meal for only 452 php which is a great value because why not indulge yourself in local delicacies after a tiring sightseeing. Best value is the Singapore Laksa!

MAKANSUTRA GLUTTON’S BAY

What better way to end the night after hours of walking and enjoying the sun to set in the beautiful skyscrapers? EAT. I asked some of my friends online on what to eat and they said it’s the Chili crab that shines after all.

SMITH STREET IN CHINATOWN

Chinatown is a good find for souvenirs, collections of shops, restaurants, and galleries but at Smith Street, follow the famous hawker center.

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA

Kuala Lumpur for me is an extraordinary city in Malaysia. It has the culture, iconic views,, and the beautiful skyscrapers. I know a day wouldn’t be enough to explore this beautiful City.

This is Kuala Lumpur. Packed with a beautiful skyline and amazing people. Its unimaginable development and acceptance of different cultures and traditions are within your reach. Your visit to Kuala Lumpur is not complete without these activities and food adventures, I know it is the city’s obsession.

My friends and I went on a trip to Kuala Lumpur and had a day to explore Petronas Tower, Batu Caves and I must not forget the famous street for food lovers!

Here’s how we spent our day in this city.

WHERE TO STAY

Since we were seven in the group we decided to book an AIRBNB so we’ll be comfortable in our stay.

Here’s the apartment we lived in.

Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia

WHERE TO EAT

Glad we made it to Jalan Alor! Food crawling here is absolutely a must try. These visuals I hope will help.

HOW TO GET AROUND SINGAPORE FROM CHANGI AIRPORT

Travelers may choose if they want to ride a taxi, bus, private transfers, and the cheapest and most convenient for me is by taking the MRT. Your 3-day trip needs a Singapore Tourist Pass for 30 SGD and once you leave Singapore you can return the card and refund the remaining balance.

This trip was so tiring. We have to walk and walk every time and that is really part of traveling (no regrets though) . So when I flew back to Manila Microtel by Wyndham Mall of Asia has surprised me with a note upon check in and an early check in at 10:00 a.m..

So who wouldn’t love to stay here? Again forgive, but these will speak for itself.

As a Philippine Passport holder, I believe that we should maximize all opportunities. When I say opportunities, those are the thing that will maximize its potential. Travel and go to visa-free countries first and after that snap a photo and share it with the world.

One lesson that I also learned is to travel slow. To travel at a slow pace allows us to appreciate more and see little things in the place we go. At the end, we are not in a race. So what matters most is to enjoy and live up the last moment before departure.
