Welcome to the Islands of God. If you will go to Bali anytime soon, this most sought after island destination has everything that you could imagine.

The island lies between the islands of Java and Lombok which makes it more than just a physical destination.

I was thinking of Bali in my office desk every day until one time I randomly booked a roundtrip ticket to see and experience their human, natural and spiritual world.

Any traveler could relate if I say that where on Earth can you do all of these things?

Be a sun worshipper in Kuta, admire every artisan’s handcraft in Ubud Art Market, walk through the rice paddies in Tegalalang, bike your way to an all original Nasi Goreng or Bobi Goling, go temple hopping and interact with monkeys, ride a fast boat to Nusa Penida and most especially the most loved activity that I enjoy is to eat my heart out in a buffet breakfast that our hotel offers.

Let us start the journey.

DAY 1. Start your journey to Ubud

Ubud is a two (2) hour ride from Bali’s International airport where the cultural capital is located. It is where art lovers unite and a place where you can speak your soul through arts.

This part of Bali is huge. A place where you can be so up close with nature at the same time experience arts.

Head on to a Balinese restaurant and refuel with a local cuisine in Teba Sari a popular restaurant in all of Ubud. I grabbed my personal favorite the Nasi Goreng special consist of a mouth-watering seafood fried rice, crispy chicken, a trio of satay, fried egg, sambal, chili-soy pickles, and shrimp crackers all in one plate.

After that, coffee is calling and so you must go!

I always support local every time I travel. A visit to an agro-tourism site like the Umapakel to try the Kopi Luwak- the most expensive coffee in the world is a must.

As you enter the site, local guides will assist you to an all exclusive coffee testing for FREE, but of course, Kopi luwak has a fee of 240 pesos only per cup. We grabbed a cup of it so to have bragging rights that we could afford this type of coffee. After all, we satisfied our cravings first.

After this, roam around the site to either experience the Bali swing or have a picture in the nest.

Make sure to travel slow, stop for a while and appreciate nature at its finest.

Should a green background is needed on your IG feed, Tegalalang rice terraces got it covered. With a picturesque background and a dramatic view, tourist can stop for a while and take a photo.

A farmer was not bothered and gamely posed for a while. While the terraces alone can be a highlight on your visit here, souvenir shops abound along the roadsides.

When the sun is about to set, we told our driver to drop us in Ubud Art Markets there we bought rattan bags that cost double here in the Philippines.

I recommend you to go in the morning as it has less crowd and offer the best price. Trust me, you can always ask for the cheapest and lowest price. Just do it in a nice way. Just ask.

We checked in at 7pm in Ramada Bali Sunset Road Kuta. Originally, I booked a regular hotel room and I sent an email to the hotel after booking it asking for a room upgrade. And yes it was upgraded to three (3) bedroom suite which I was told before checking in. That was possible because of my Wyndham Rewards Gold membership.

We were exhausted and tired for a long day journey in Ubud so ending a night with a bang- this bed for the night is just as awesome as their service was.

Hotel Address: Jl. Sunset Road No. 9 Kuta, Legian, Bali, Indonesia, 80361

We also took advantage of its free breakfast and some amenities in the hotel. I just wished we could have stayed longer at this property. From check in to check out all were invoked the spirit of the island.

For bookings check their website and enroll to their free hotel loyalty program at for exclusive deals.

At 7 am, we headed to Sanur Beach harbor to head on to Bali’s prime beach destination-Nusa Penida.

The voyage took us about 45 minutes from the harbor to Nusa Penida. Whether you stay for a day or overnight, there are many things to do on this secluded island. I found a good deal online that costs 2,600 pesos which include hotel pick-up and drop-off from Bali, lunch, boat transfers, entrance fees, the driver in the island and tour guide.

Kelingking beach did not disappoint me. This Instagram famous spot leaves me surreal and in awe. It was like a drone shot positioned from above.

Angel’s Billabong is just one of the finest spot.

Broken beach as its name suggests is an incredible little cove on the island. As you can see in the picture, the water flows inside and outside of the ocean.

At exactly 4pm, we headed back to the port and back to the mainland Bali.

For a hassle-free trip to this island check out Nusa Penida Tour Packages on Facebook.

I ran out of words to describe how my experience in Nusa Penida should sum up.

What I remember after the trip while scanning my phone were all those photos standing on the T-Red cliff in Kelingking viewpoint.

I just remembered how I laid my eyes on the beach down below.

This journey was also a hotel and resort hopping. On the second night, we checked in to a stunning hotel and beach resort in East Bali.

I used my 18,000 Wyndham rewards points good for two (2) rooms, one is for a GoFast and GoFree.

Wyndham Tamansari Jivva Resort, Bali

Hotel Address:  Pantai Lepang, Jl. Subak Lepang No. 16, Takmung, Jivva, Bali 80752, Indonesia

The staffs of Wyndham Tamansari Jivva Resort Bali welcomed us at their property situated in a lush landscape along the crystal-clear blue waters of the Bali Sea.

I used the same hack that I just did for the first night. I booked two (2) regular rooms that were available in my award wallet.

The next morning we enjoyed a Balinese buffet breakfast in their beautifully landscaped restaurant.

Once confirmed I immediately sent an email to the hotel’s manager asking for a room upgrade and viola they upgraded us to an amazing king deluxe room.

If you need the email template that always works for almost every hotel in the world.

I just loved how our stay mixed with a modern luxury and have enjoyed the sea breeze that kick-started our relaxing island day.

Indeed, our stay was a complete stay of mind.

We basked in the sun for two (2) days and it was about time to go to South Bali as dubbed as the coldest place in Bali.

I experienced first-hand the growing agro-tourism in the south of Bali.

Farmers produce are found at their vegetable market.

The fog in Ulun Danu Temple never bothered us anyway. It is one of the most famous Hindu Temples in all of Indonesia.

While we traverse to Bedugul, traffic seemed no end. But, it was okay because of the cold weather.

Bali Handara Golf and Country Club

Your pocket won’t hurt you when you pay a minimal entrance to Bali’s most beautiful Handara Gate and take a photo for your Instagram feed.

The photogenic nests and swing in Wanagiri Hidden Hills will never fail you.

In our last night in Bali, we checked in an Airbnb near the airport about 700 meters away for a discounted rate because we used a coupon code. So if you are new to Airbnb you can get 1600 pesos off on your first stay. Look for the link below:

Medyo nakakaluwag-luwag kami sa part na ito. I am a Wyndham RewardsGold Member, the most generous hotel loyalty program in the world kaya naman nung sabi ni beswak ko na mag-baBALI kami check agad ako ng Wyndham property at Viola ito na ang bongga-bongga ng tulugan sa gabi.

Medyo pricey siya talaga imagine a 7,000-9,000 pesos per night nakuha ko kang siya ng 5,000 pesos for one night 2 rooms and in-upgrade pa ako ng 3 bedroom suite ni hotel manager.

How did I do that? TRAVEL HACK!!

Simple lang inemail ko si hotel manager every stay. If you wanna know the template that I used let me know.

YES.

May bad experience kasi ako. Kuwento ko lang.

Akala ko makakamura ako kasi feel ko malaki yung palitan kaso nung nagcheck ako nalugi ako ng 1,700 pesos. YES. What I did was, nagsurvey ako sa baba then nakita ko na nalugi nga ako. Then bumalik ako sa may Money Changer dun sa Bay D na red.

Then I asked the cashier na instead of IDR na direct papalit muna ako sa peso. Then they said na ‘di na raw pwede. Okay. Umalis na lang ako and went downstairs to ask if what do I need to do, then from there na I asked a supervisor kasi bes malaking pera din yun.

Pero, gulat ako kasi hinanap ako nung cashier para palitan agad yung IDR to PHP.

Lesson learned. When in doubt survey pa more muna.

Bali is an island that you are definite to fall in love with. It has something for everyone- great cuisine, laughing faces full of the joy of the locals, unreal sunsets, and of course un-BALI-evably beautiful beaches. one of the best things about Bali is despite the fact that the island is totally concentrated on tourism, but has not lost an inch of its vibrant culture.
